DC-Shooter-2013We have taken a sabbatical away from our blog since after the 2012 elections to recover what was left of our hopes and dreams for the future. We have come to the conclusion after re-entering the social media world that not much has changed. The US debt is still in the trillions, the President is still enjoying golf when he has a chance, the politicians are still doing what they do best and that is talking and arguing and not coming to many agreements.

But we have noticed that many voters have had a change of heart especially since the implementation of Obamacare is looming large in the Northern Hemisphere. Many states are refusing to take part in this great experiment. Labor Unions upon learning that they are going to be losing their hard fought battles and that their intimidation tactics are not working and they will not be in the, “catbird seats,” are coming to grips with the reality as are many government workers, that they may be facing some difficult days and years ahead and that their almighty benefit packages are blowing in the wind as are the promises made that will not be kept. That sort of levels the playing field now doesn’t it. We may all be losers in the Obamacare game. It actually could not be said anymore simply than that. There will definitely be many hardships and challenges to face and we will by the Grace of God weather the storms.

Even the 1% or the wealthiest Americans that we know, among us are worried some about their, “supplemental golden insurance parachutes.” They have already said, take our Social Security if it will help and we will pay more taxes but please do not make us have to make sense of defining value as we are not willing to give up celebrating Christmas everyday. That’s okay by us, we love our wealthy friends, who are not showboats. They are like everybody else, worrying about their families and their businesses and current events. We are all in this boat together. What is troubling is who is at the helm. It seemed wonderful when Mitt Romney came around, Mr. Majesty of Calmness, to calm the tides, only to be bush-wacked by the pundits and the naysayers. We were very proud of the race that he ran.

There appear to be some bright stars on the horizon, or is it simply a mirage. Forgive us for having no faith in the politicians. Although hearing that some on opposite sides of the aisles are actually having some agreements these days is refreshing. At a time like this, it is in rather poor taste to be criticizing the POTUS even if we do not agree, or like, or believe anything that he says. The majority elected him, even though, we disagree that the elections were fair. We realize that where great responsibility and power reside, so do all of the temptations for corruption and dishonesty. The violence of the mentally ill has taken it’s toil in human treasure. We all will answer to a loving God. We all will be responsible for the consequences of our actions and words.

What is most concerning still are all of the minor details, like taking God and our Judea-Christian values out of the picture. We agree with the Governor of Maine on these subjects. We like that he has spoken out about the fact that our American Judeo-Christian values have systematically been under attack. We believe that there are those who wish to take God out of our courthouses, schools and town squares. These elements want to permanently remove the idea of a Republic and one nation under God and the power of one from the national consciousness where we feel it belongs. Perhaps the Governor of Maine and New Jersey and others can also speak out about our institutions of higher learning and our educators of today and how they are rewriting our history books. It is disturbing commentary indeed in thinking about America’s youth. It is disturbing to think that our youngest most impressionable minds, attending colleges and universities, attempting to develop their world views and to find their voice, are literally being scammed out of their American Heritage.

America is the greatest and most generous country on the planet especially when it comes to giving away our tax dollars. The United States has many problems at home. Many of our cities are crumbling before our eyes. Our War on Drugs and Our War on Poverty and Our War on Education seem to be losing battles. It also seems that since we are not able to fix our own problems that we turn to trying to be of help abroad. When did our sense of reason, fairness and being realistic leave us. America is still the greatest country in the world. The terrorist elements around the world have not nor will they ever defeat us. They have delivered a severe blow but will never prevail over our enduring spirit and resolve to fight them to the bitter end in the name of everything that we hold dear. America does need to remember to take care of their own business first in order to be of greater service to others elsewhere and especially right here at home.
